Özet:

Nouns which stand as fundamental word types in a language represent concepts and beings in the universe, whereas verbs represent motions belonging to these concepts and beings. The ability of Turkish to find equivalents for concepts and beings is quite affluent. In as much as, when Turkish dialects have been taken into consideration, the idea to be employed about equalize each being, quality, concept and verb in meaning has been mentioned and discussed. In this context, all words which mind needs have been acquired into the language. Particu-larly, the efficacy of Turkish Language about verbs is remarkable. Turks are action – oriented group of people as a requirement of their nomadic life style. They were able to reflect all verbs into speech, all of which were required by the age and the geography they lived in. It can be concluded that the language has not yet finished tasks with actions as these verbs produced new meanings by means of extending with the help of affixes, the same verb root or body ga-ined polysemy and they became a figurative and an idiom by combining different types of words. The semantic extension of a verb determines its life span. Just as what happened to every word whose range of use has widened, the verbs which have polysemy continue to li-ve, as well. However, the meaning area conveyed by some verbs are more limited, which makes them difficult to adhere the language. Of these verbs, the verb Yėt-/yėḏ-/yed- is a verb whose meaning is narrow. The verb initially discovered in Orkhun Scripts in the 8th Century was used in all historic Turkish dialects and it has also been detected in its changed form of t>d in Turkey Turkish even if they are in limited use (in accents and proverbs). The expiry of a word indicates that it is no longer needed. The changing life styles of people who speak languages determine the permanence of words. It is remarkable that the verb At yėt-yed- which posed itself in the context of meaning “to take the horse by pulling, to proceed it” in the history, turned out to be used as “to take along” so that it won’t remain out of use. In this study, the verb yėt-/yed- usages in historic and modern dialects will be detected.
