Abstract:

Following the Industrial Revolution, growing population and energy needs have begun to put pressure on the ecosystem. As a result of this increasing pressure, nature's inability to renew itself easily in parallel with the increasing needs of human beings, and therefore the delicate balance of the ecosystem, which started to decline, have brought along new environmental problems. As a matter of fact, climate change, accepted as one of the biggest environmental problems, has a decisive importance on a global scale. Particularly climate change, which has been among the most important topics on both national and international agendas for the last two decades, and cooperation and efforts to solve climate change on a global scale indicate that the perceived threat level is high. The threat, which is an expression of the Copenhagen School's security approach and securitization practice, and how this threat is perceived by political decision-makers and how it is realized through a political construction process is essential for the analysis of security-related problems. In this context, in this study, the discourses of the political actors which influence the political decision-making mechanism of Türkiye have been discussed in the axis of the security approaches of the Copenhagen School. In addition, the main problem of the study is what policies Türkiye has put forward concerning the subject and what kind of discourse the political actors in Türkiye have carried out a political construction process, and what the reflection of these discourses on the target group is.
