Ekonomik, politik ve kültürel hakimiyet arayış içerisinde dünyaya damgasını vuran Avrupa ve Kuzey Amerika akla ilk gelen sömürgeci güçlerden sayılabilirler. Postkolonyal teori ve edebiyat, bu sömürgeci düzenin kurbanları için, kolonyal düzenden kaynaklanan degradasyonu ifade etme konusunda fırsat olmuştur. Hem Frantz Fanon hem Abdelrahman Munif, kolonyal düzenin hakim olduğu ülkelerin vatandaşları olarak kolonyal girişimlerin insanlar üzerindeki yıkıcı ekonomik, sosyal, kültürel ve psikolojik etkilerine tanık olduklarından, doğrudan veya dolaylı olarak kendi kişisel deneyimlerini eserlerine yansıtmışlardır. Bu bağlamda, karşılaştıkları sömürge düzeninin adaletsizliklerine karşı tepki göstermiş ve her ikisi de marjinal görüşleri nedeniyle sürgüne gönderilmiştir. Münif, bir petro-kurgu roman olan Tuz Şehirleri’nde (Cities of Salt, 1984) petrolle tanışılmasından başlayıp, yerli yöneticiler ile petrol arayışındaki Amerikalıların işbirliğinin ve ticaretin yol açtığı felaket ve dönüşümle devam ederek Arap Yarımadası’nın sömürge panoramasını aktarır. Münif, çöldeki petrolün keşfinin hem çölün doğasını, hem de çöl sakinlerin ruhunu eşzamanlı olarak nasıl tahrif ettiğini aktararak, karakterleri ve olay örgüsü ile eserinin Fanon gözünden değerlendirilmesi için bir ilham kaynağı olmuştur. Bir psikiyatrist, filozof ve yazar olarak Frantz Fanon, dünyada sömürülen mağdurların savunucularının öncüleri arasında kabul edilmektedir. Frantz Fanon'un sosyo-psikolojik ve sosyo-politik tespitleri Kuzey Afrikalılar ve Martinikliler’e has gibi görünse de, Fanon, bu insanların davranış kalıpları hakkında vardığı genel sonuçların sömürgeci düzene maruz kalan her insanla benzer olduğunun altını çizmektedir. Bu makalenin amacı, Fanon'un sömürge mirasına ilişkin görüşlerinden faydalanarak Tuz Şehirleri’ndeki (Cities of Salt) sömürgeci yozlaşmayı, travmayı ve direnişi yeniden değerlendirmektir.
Europe and North America are the first colonial powers to be considered to be the world's mark in the quest for economic, political and cultural domination. Post-colonial theory and literature have been the opportunity for the victims of this colonial order to express the degradation caused by the colonial order. Both Frantz Fanon and Abdelrahman Munif, as citizens of the countries where the colonial order is dominated, witnessed the devastating economic, social, cultural and psychological effects of colonial initiatives on people, directly or indirectly reflected their personal experiences in their works. In this context, they reacted against the injustices of the colonial order they encountered, and both were expelled due to their marginal views. Mystery is a petro-fiction novel Salt cities The ( Cities of Salt, In 1984, he begins with his acquaintance with oil and continues with the catastrophic and transformation of the co-operation and trade of the Americans in the pursuit of oil with the local governors, and translates the colonial panorama of the Arab Peninsula. The Munif has been a source of inspiration for the discovery of the oil in the desert, translating the nature of the desert and how it simultaneously destroys the spirit of the desert residents, and the character and plot of the events and his work to be evaluated by the eyes of Fanon. As a psychiatrist, philosopher and writer, Frantz Fanon is recognized as one of the leading defenders of the world’s exploited victims. Although Frantz Fanon’s socio-psychological and socio-political findings seem to be specific to the North African and Martinic, Fanon points out that the general findings of these people about their patterns of behavior are similar to any person exposed to the colonial order. As subjugated citizens of colonial order, both Frantz Fanon and Abdelrahman Munif, directly or indirectly, reflected their personal experiences in their works since they both witnessed the destructive economic, social, cultural, and psychological influences of colonial enterprises on the people. Accordingly, they raised against the injustices of the colonial order they encountered and both were exiled due to their marginal views. In Cities of Salt (1984), a petro-fiction novel, Munif narrates the colonial panorama of the Arabian Peninsula, beginning from the encounter with oil and proceeding with the disaster and transformation caused by the collaboration of native governors and Americans in search of the oil and its trade. Munif narrates how the discovery of oil in the oasis ceases both the desert landscape and the psyche of the inhabitants synchronically, providing a source of inspiration to this article to make a Fanonian analysis of the characters and events. Since, as a psychiatrist, philosopher, and author, Frantz Fanon is regarded among the pioneers of advocators of the subjugated in the world. Though Frantz Fanon’s socio-psychologic and socio-political detections seem to pertain to North Africans and Martinicans, he underlines that the general conclusions he reached about the behavior patterns of these people are the same as any other people people who are subjected to colonization. This article aims to re-evaluate the colonial degradation, trauma, and resistance in Cities of Salt from Fanon’s views on colonial heritage.
