Toplumsal cinsiyet rolleri hem kadının hem de erkeğin yaşamını şekillendirmekle birlikte kadın hayatını daha çok etkilemektedir. Eşitsizlikle birlikte kadınlar daha düşük öğrenim düzeyine sahip olmakta, daha az işgücüne katılmakta, daha az gelir elde etmektedir. Bunlara toplumsal baskının da eklenmesiyle yaşanan cinsiyet eşitsizliği doğrudan ya da dolaylı olarak kadın sağlığını etkilemektedir. Özellikle kadın sağlığında toplumsal cinsiyet ayrımcılığının görüldüğü en önemli alan üreme sağlığı hizmetleridir. Kadınlar yaşam süresi boyunca, intrauterin yaşamdan başlayıp çocukluk, ergenlik, yaşlılık dönemlerinde erkeklere göre daha fazla risk faktörlerine maruz kalmaktadır. Gebelik öncesi cinsiyet tercihi, gebelik sonucu kız bebek olması halinde gebeliğin sonlandırılması, kız bebeklerin daha erken sütten kesilmesi, genitalmutilasyon, adölesan evlilikler, bekâret denetimi, kadınların bütün yaşam dönemlerinde maruz kaldığı şiddet, kadın cinayetleri, menopoz ve sonrası dönem, kız çocuklarının okutulmaması, kadın statüsünün ve iş istihdamının yetersizliği kadın cinsiyetinin yaşadığı olumsuz durumların en önemli göstergeleridir. Bu bağlamda söz konusu derlemede toplumsal cinsiyet rolünün kadın sağlığına etkilerinin incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır
The social gender roles shape both the life of the woman and the man, and more influence the life of the woman. With inequality, women have a lower level of education, less participate in labour, less income. Gender inequality, which is also associated with social pressure, directly or indirectly affects women’s health. The most important area where gender discrimination is seen in women’s health is reproductive health services. Women are exposed to more risk factors throughout their lifetime, starting from their intrauterine life and in childhood, adolescence, age than men. Pregnancy sex preference, the termination of pregnancy if the result of pregnancy is a girl baby, the early breastfeeding of the girl babies, genital mutation, adult marriages, single control, the violence that women are exposed throughout their lifetime, women's murders, menopause and post-periods, the lack of schooling of the girls, the lack of women's status and employment are the most important indicators of the negative conditions in which women's gender experiences. In this context, the collection is aimed at studying the effects of social gender role on women’s health.
