1950 seçimlerinde iktidara gelen Demokrat Parti ile muhalefet partileri arasındaki siyasi mücadelede dikkate değer bir yeri olan Vatan Cephesi oluşumu, muhalefet partilerinin iktidara karşı ‘İş birliği’ girişimleri karşısında Başbakan Adnan Menderes’in isteği üzerine tüm yurtta kurulmuştur. Türk siyasal yaşamında büyük tartışmalara neden olan, siyasi dengeleri değiştiren ve Yassıada yargılamalarına da dava konusu olan Vatan Cephesi oluşumu, partiler arasında var olan gerginlikleri daha da arttırmıştı. Adnan Menderes’in ülke genelinde vatandaşları muhalefete karşı cephede toplamaya yönelik çağrısı üzerine Demokrat Parti Van il ve ilçe teşkilatları da bu yönde çalışmalar yaparak Demokrat Parti saflarına yüksek bir katılımın gerçekleşmesini sağlamışlardı. 1957 seçimlerinde Van’da da Demokrat Parti’nin ciddi oranda oy kaybına uğraması Vatan Cephesi’nin önemini daha da arttırmıştır. Çünkü Vatan Cephesi’ne katılımların sağlanmasıyla DP’nin eski gücüne ulaşması hedeflenmiştir. Bu bağlamda 1958-1960 yılları arasında Van’daki farklı muhalefet partilerinden ve çeşitli esnaf gruplarından bireysel ve toplu geçişlerle binlerce vatandaş DP saflarına katılmışlardı. Vatan Cephesi kanalıyla gerçekleşen bu katılımlar Van’daki siyasi yaşamın hareketliliğine ve tablonun değişmesine de neden olmuştu. Bu makalede 12 Ekim 1958’de oluşum süreci başlayan ve 1960 askerî müdahalesi ile sona eren Vatan Cephesi oluşumunun Van’daki siyasi tabloya nasıl yansıdığı ve seçmenler üzerindeki etkisi, Adnan Menderes’e ve DP’ye gönderilen telgraflar esas alınarak söylem analizi ekseninde incelenmiştir.
The formation of the Fatherland Front, which had a significant place in the political struggle between the Democratic Party that came to power in the 1950 elections and the opposition parties, was established throughout the country at the request of Prime Minister Adnan Menderes against the “Cooperation”attempts of the opposition parties against the government. The formation of the Homeland Front, which caused great debates in Turkish political life, changed the political balances and was the subject of lawsuits in the Yassıada trials, further increased the tensions between the parties. Upon the call of Adnan Menderes to gather citizens from across the country to this front against the opposition, the Democratic Party Van provincial and district organizations carried out studies in this direction and ensured a high participation in the DP ranks. The DP's loss of votes in Van in the 1957 elections further increased the importance of the Fatherland Front. Because the DP was aimed to reach its old power with the participation of the Fatherland Front. In this context, thousands of citizens from different opposition parties and various tradesmen groups in Van joined the DP ranks through individual and collective transitions between 1958-1960. These participations through the Homeland Front also caused the dynamism of the political life in Van and the change of the picture. In this article, how the formation of the Fatherland Front, which started on October 12, 1958 and ended with the military intervention on, 1960, reflected on the political picture in Van and its effect on the voters, based on the telegrams sent to Adnan Menderes and DP, in the axis of discourse analysis. It has been examined.
