Diyetle K Vitamini Alımı Bilişsel Performansı Etkiler mi?

K vitamini yağda çözünen bir vitamin olup doğada filokinon (K1) ve menakinon (K2) formlarında bulunmaktadır. Menadion (K3) formu ise sentetik analog olarak kullanılmaktadır. K vitamini, metabolizmada K vitaminine bağımlı proteinlerin karboksilasyonundan sorumludur. Genellikle kan koagülasyonü üzerine rolü olduğu bilinen K vitamininin günümüzde kardiyovasküler hastalıklar, osteoporoz, vasküler kalsifikasyon, kanser, diyabet ve glisemik kontrol ile de ilişkisi olduğu gösterilmiştir. Son yıllarda ise beyinde miyelinizasyonun yoğun olduğu bölgelerde Menakinon-4 (MK-4) formunda bulunduğu saptanmış ve bilişsel performans ile bazı nörodejeneratif hastalıkların patogenezinde rol alabileceği belirtilmiştir. Bu etkisini Gas-6 ve protein S gibi proteinler aracılığıyla veya nöronları oksidatif stres hasarına karşı koruyarak gösterdiği düşünülmektedir. Atriyal fibrilasyon (AF) hastalarının sıklıkla kullandığı antikoagülanların ve K vitamini antagonisti olmayan antikoagülanların bilişsel performans ve demans üzerine etkisi ise tartışmalıdır. Bu derleme makalede K vitamini ve antikoagülanların bilişsel performans üzerine etkileri ele alınmıştır.

Does Vitamin K Diet Affect Cognitive Performance?

Vitamin K is a vitamin that is soluble in fat and is found in the forms of philokinone (K1) and menakinone (K2). The form of Menadion (K3) is used as a synthetic analogue. Vitamin K is responsible for the carboxylation of vitamin K-dependent proteins in metabolism. It has been shown that vitamin K, which is commonly known to play a role in blood coagulation, is also associated with cardiovascular diseases, osteoporosis, vascular calcification, cancer, diabetes and glycemic control today. In recent years, it has been found that in areas where myelinization is intense, it is in the form of Menakinon-4 (MK-4) and that cognitive performance and some neurodegenerative diseases can play a role in pathogenesis. It is believed that this effect is shown through proteins such as Gas-6 and protein S or by protecting neurons from oxidative stress damage. The effects of anticoagulants frequently used by patients with atrial fibrilation (AF) and anticoagulants not antagonists of vitamin K on cognitive performance and dementia should be discussed. This collection article discussed the effects of vitamin K and anticoagulants on cognitive performance.
