Abstract:

In order to reach the meaning of a poem and reveal its literary value, it is necessary to examine the text of the poem in accordance with its purpose and correctly. In this respect, text dictionaries based on the meaning-context relationship are important studies in terms of determining the changing meanings of each language element that makes up a work according to the context. XVIII. Nedim (d.1730), one of the 19th century poets, has an important place in Divan poetry in terms of the literary value of his poems and the innovations he brought to poetry. Therefore, Nedim's writing poems in a unique style and being a poet capable of ascribing many meanings to a word to the extent of his command of the language were the most important factors that led to the preparation of this study. In this study, how the words in Divan poetry have different meanings according to the "context" is presented by giving examples from the "Nedim Divanı Sözlüğü" study based on Nedim's Divan. It is thought that such studies will contribute to lexicography, style and language studies.
