Abstract:

This study aims to develop a valid and reliable scale to determine the mediation of parents with children in early childhood. In the preliminary study, the materials prepared by studying the scales of the field of summer and media mediation were presented to the opinions of four and five experts, including one of the fields of measurement, who have graduated in the field of pre-school education and child development and their studies related to the media. In accordance with the opinion of the experts, 83 subjects of the draft form were formed. The draft form was applied to 116 parents. The matters are regulated by the early childhood Parents Media Mediation Scale (ECEMAÖ) test form is arranged as 58 matters and the matters are extended by the Likert type 5 and scored between 1-5 . The study was conducted with 855 parents. In the structural validity studies of the scale, the Basic Components Analysis (TBA) and Verifying Factor Analysis (DFA) were performed. In the reliability studies, the alpha internal consistency ratio of Cronbach was calculated. Depending on the end value review, 184 (21.5%) observations, extracted from the data set, advanced analyses were carried out with the data of 671 parents. The model compatibility index values indicate that a structure that provides high level of model-data compatibility can be identified (χ2/sd=2.23, RMSEA=0.043, RMR=0.044, CFI=0.98, NFI=0. 97, GFI = 0.89, RFI = 0.96). The reliability levels for the obtained structure (Cronbach alpha ratings) are calculated as .92, .86, .61, .83, .84, .59 and .91 for the components respectively. The findings have found that the scale is suitable for use as a valid and reliable tool.
