Objective: To evaluate the potential impacts of low hydration and adequate hydration on clinical signs and symptoms. Materials and Methods: Signs and symptoms of hypersensitivity and constipation were evaluated before and after 40 mL/kg/d of water intake in 24 healthy individuals for 14 days of follow-up. Results: Headache, dizziness, fainting, and insomnia were improved. However, it is worthwhile that no significant changes in stool shape and density were found through the traditional Bristol Stool Scale, while there was improvement in sensation of complete bowel movement; therefore, there is a possibility of the influence of adequate hydration on this result. Also, significant improvement was noted regarding the symptoms of acne, rashes or sores, and redness. Conclusion: Proper hydration protocol (40 mL/kg/d water for 14 weeks) improved several symptoms related to the central nervous system (headache, dizziness, fainting and sleepless) in healthy college students. However, further controlled investigations are needed to consider the external validity of the data for other populations.
