Trabzon ilinin batı sahilinde yer alan Akçaabat, kültüründe Roma, Bizans, Komnenos ve Osmanlı döneminin izlerini barındıran tarihi yerleri, zengin ve köklü kültürü, folkloru, jeopolitik konumu, coğrafik yapısı, çok zengin bitki örtüsüyle Doğu Karadeniz’in en eski yerleşim yerlerinden biridir. Antik çağdan günümüze Akçaabat ve çok sayıda tarihi eseriyle Ortamahalle, 19 yy. Osmanlı dönemi sivil mimarlık örneği tarihi evleri, dar sokakları, merdivenleri, duvarları, çeşmeleri ile geçmişin izlerini günümüze taşımaktadır. Akçaabat’ın diğer mahallelerine göre hep farklılık göstermiş Ortamahalle’de aile içinde, kadınlar tarafından kuşaktan kuşağa aktarılan bilgi, beceri ve deneyimler sonucu ortaya çıkmış giyim kültürü bu çalışmanın konusu olmuş, 1930’lu yıllardan itibaren Ortamahalle’de giyim kültürüne yön veren mahalle terzileri ve bu terziler tarafından Ortamahalle’de yaşamış kişilere dikilen gelinlik, gelin ağırlığı, nişan, nikâh, sokak ve ev kıyafetleri, erkek, çocuk, okul kıyafetleri araştırılmış, yaşamın içinde oluşan giyim kültürü saptanmaya çalışılmıştır. Çalışmayı gerçekleştirmek için literatür taraması yapılarak çalışmanın bilimsel bir tabana oturtulması sağlanmış, araştırmada alan araştırması, kaynak kişi görüşmesi ve yerinde gözlem teknikleri kullanılmış, araştırma fotoğraflar ile belgelenmiştir.

Located on the western coast of the Trabzon province, Akçaabat is one of the oldest settlements in the Eastern Black Sea with its rich and rooted culture, folklore, geopolitical location, geographical structure, very rich plant coverage, historic sites that have traces of the Roman, Byzantine, Komnenos and Ottoman periods in its culture. From ancient times to today, Akçaabat and many historical works in the Middle East, 19th century. The example of the Ottoman era civil architecture brings historical houses, narrow streets, stairs, walls, fountains and traces of the past to the present day. The clothing culture that has emerged as a result of knowledge, skills and experiences transmitted by women from generation to generation has always been the subject of this study, from the 1930s to the 1930s, the neighborhood preferences that directed the clothing culture in the middle of the middle of the middle of the middle of the middle of the middle of the middle of the middle of the middle of the middle of the middle of the middle of the middle of the middle of the middle of the middle of the middle of the middle of the middle. Located on the western coast of the province of Trabzon, Akçaabat is one of the oldest settlements in the Eastern Black Sea region. It is significant for its precious historical places displaying the traces of Roman, Byzantine, Komnenos and Ottoman period. It is marked with diverse and rooted culture, folklore, geopolitical position, geographical structure and prosperous flora. This study reviews the history of Akçaabat from ancient times to present day and explores many historical artefacts in Ortamahalle since the 19th century. The samples of historical houses from Ottoman period represent the civil architecture at the time through narrow streets, stairs, walls, and fountains, which carry the traces of the past to the present. This study examines the clothing culture that emerged as a result of the knowledge, skills, and experience passed down by women from generation to generation in Ortamahalle, always a remarkable district in Akçaabat. The study deals with the clothing culture, and its idiosyncratic place in social life through the wedding dress, bridal weight, engagement, wedding, street and house clothes, uniforms for men, child uniforms and school uniforms, all designed and made by the local tailors for generations long in Ortamahalle. The study reviewed field literature, historical accounts and other sources. The study also used field research, interviews with local persons and on-site observation techniques as well as surveying the relevant documents, including significant photographs.
