Bu çalışmanın amacı, anlam ile birlikte dinin iki temel psikolojik sütunundan biri olan kutsalın, dindar bireyin anlam arayışı sürecindeki değerini incelemektir. Bilindiği üzere din, kutsal ile anlamın kesişme noktasında bulunur. Hatta bazı araştırmacılar, dinin bu kutsalı arama sürecinden başka bir şey olmadığını ifade etmişlerdir. Bazılarına göre ise, varoluşsal anlamda insanda bulunan ve onu dindarlaşmaya yönelten fıtrat, kutsal ve kutsallık duygusuyla aynı şeydir. Bu nedenle kutsalın, insanın dinî gelişiminde oldukça işlevsel olduğunu söylemek mümkündür. Bununla birlikte, olumsuz yaşam olayları ile karşılaşan dindarın anlam arayışı sürecinde ihtiyaç duyduğu psikolojik enerjinin kaynağının da büyük ölçüde bu kutsallık duygusunun olduğu söylenebilir. Hal böyle iken, olumsuz yaşam olayları ile karşılaşan insanların, dinî başa çıkma ve anlam arama sürecinde zikredilen bu kutsallık duygusunun değerinin genelde ıskalandığı görülmektedir. İlgili çalışmaların küçük bir bölümünün maneviyat, ezici bir bölümünün ise dindarlık bağlamında yürütüldükleri tespit edilmiştir. Hâlbuki Din Psikolojisi biliminin çalışma alanı dikkate alındığında, kutsallık duygusunun insanın anlam arayışındaki fonksiyonunun incelenmesinin bir gereklilik olduğu söylenebilir. Bir amacı da bu eksikliğe dikkat çekmek olan çalışmada, birincil ve ikincil kaynaklar çerçevesinde kutsallık duygusunun dindar bireyin anlam arayışındaki psikolojik değeri incelenmiştir. Sonuçların, kutsallık duygusunun, insanın anlam arayışında pozitif etkilerinin olabileceğine dair düşünceleri desteklediği görülmüştür.
The aim of this study is to examine the value of the sacred, which is one of the two basic psychological pillars of religion along with meaning, in the process of the religious individual's search for meaning. As it is known, religion is located at the intersection of sacred and meaning. Some researchers have even stated that religion is nothing more than a process of searching for this sacred. According to some, the nature that exists in man in the existential sense, which leads him to become religious, is the same thing as the sense of holiness and sanctity. For this reason, it is possible to say that the sacred is quite functional in the religious development of man. However, it can be said that this sense of holiness is largely the source of the psychological energy needed by the religious person in the process of searching for meaning when faced with negative life events. While this is the case, it is seen that people who encounter negative life events often miss the value of this sense of holiness mentioned in the process of religious coping and searching for meaning. It has been determined that a small part of the relevant studies are carried out in the context of spirituality and an overwhelming part in the context of religiosity. However, considering the field of study of the science of Psychology of Religion, it can be said that it is a necessity to examine the function of the sense of holiness in man's search for meaning. In the study, one of the aims of which is to draw attention to this deficiency, the psychological value of the sense of holiness in the search for meaning of the religious individual is examined within the framework of primary and secondary sources. The results have been shown to support ideas that a sense of holiness can have positive effects on man's search for meaning.
