Bu araştırma fırsat verildiğinde çocukların dijital ve dijital olmayan oyunlardan hangisini tercih ettiklerini ve bu oyunlardaki davranışlarını derinlemesine incelemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Bu kapsamda çocukların serbest oyun etkinliklerindeki oyun tercihleri ve dijital oyun çerçevesine göre oyunlardaki davranışları karşılaştırılmıştır. Bu çalışma nitel karşılaştırmalı durum araştırması deseninde tasarlanmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu amaçlı ulaşılabilir örneklem yoluyla belirlenen, batı Anadolu şehrinin birinde resmi bir anaokulundaki 16 çocuk ve 3 öğretmen oluşturmuştur. Bu araştırmada doğal gözlem, görüşme ve dokümanlar aracılığı ile elde edilen veriler içerik analizi ile analiz edilmiştir. Bulgular (1)Dijital veya dijital olmayan: Çocuklar ne ister? (2)Kimler tercih eder? ve (3) Nasıl oyun oynarlar? olarak adlandırılan üç temel tema çerçevesinde sunulmuştur. Araştırmanın sonuçları çocukların dijital veya dijital olmayan oyunları dengeli olarak tercih ettikleri, erkek çocukların dijital oyunlara ilgilerinin olduğu ve keşfetme, problem çözme ve beceri kazanma gibi bilişsel öğelerin ve sembol kullanma ve yenilik getirme gibi hayali öğelerin her iki tür oyunda gözlendiğini göstermektedir.
This research aims to examine in depth which of the digital and non-digital games children prefer when the opportunity is given, and their behavior in these games. In this context, children’s play preferences in free game activities and their behavior in games are compared according to the digital game framework. This work is designed in the comparative situation research pattern. The study group formed 16 children and 3 teachers in an official kindergarten in one of the western Anadolu cities, determined through accessible sampling for the purpose. In this study, the data obtained through natural observations, interviews and documents were analyzed through content analysis. Results (1)Digital or Non-Digital: What Do Children Want? Who prefer? And 3) How do they play? Three main themes are presented in the framework. The results of the study show that children prefer digital or non-digital games in a balanced way, that boys are interested in digital games and that both kinds of imaginary elements, such as discovery, problem-solving and skills gain, and symbol use and innovation are observed in the game.
This research aims to examine children’s digital and non-digital play preferences and their play behaviors during free play activities. The digital play framework was used to compare children’s play preferences and play behaviors. A qualitative comparative case study method was chosen as a research design. The participants of the study were 16 children and their three teachers who worked for a public kindergarten in a western Anatolian city. The data gathered through natural observations, interviews with children and teachers, and document collection. Constant comparative content analysis techniques were employed to analyze the data. Three basic themes were emerged: (1) Digital or non-digital: What do children want? (2) Who prefers? and (3) How do they play? The results of the study revealed that children preferred digital or non-digital play in a balanced way, boys preferred digital play materials more than girls. Additionally, epistemic activities such as discovering, solving problems, and gaining skills, and ludic elements including symbol use and innovation were observed in children’s digital and non-digital play.
