Abstract In this study, it is aimed to determine the role of family in children's reading habits. In this study, in line with the purpose of the research, the general status of children's reading habits and the variables such as family members reading to their children in early childhood, having a library at home and the differences shown by these variables were determined. The research was carried out with 15 parents residing in Gaziantep province Nizip district in the 2021-2022 academic year. Data; The data were collected by interview method using a semi-structured interview form. The research was carried out with the phenomenology pattern, which is one of the qualitative research methods. Content analysis method was used in the analysis of the data. Based on the data obtained from the research; families being regular readers, organizing reading activities at home, bringing their children together with books in early childhood, having reading materials such as regularly following (magazine, newspaper...), having objective determinants such as library and library at home, providing their children with stories and fairy tales from early childhood. As a result of reading studies; It has been concluded that children's reading habits, imagination, comprehension and listening skills, and knowledge level are high, as well as self-control and responsibility skills.
