Abstract:

Kars City is the administrative center of the Kars province in the northeastern part of Turkey and the same name district. The city is comprised of 23 districts on the Kars-Erzurum plateau area, which runs to the northeastern-southwest direction, on the Kars Tea coast, on the light-wave volcanic ground called the Black Mountains and the Throne Plateau, spread to an area of 7,152 hectares. According to the Address-Based Population Register System, in 2011, in the city where 76,928 people live, 52,583 persons in the age group 15-64 considered working age, the city accounts for 68% of the total population. 54.8% of the population located in the city and employed in any business, service, 21.2% of production and industry, 17.5% of agriculture, 6.5% of the sectors are employed in sectors that are not well identified or cannot be included in a group, the general situation shows that the function of public-dependent services in the city is on the forefront.7152 hectares of management area in the city, the urban functions are actively used in 2012 in terms of land use, 4000 hectares of the area, and 65% of these areas are used for housing, 3% of the industry, 22% of the services are used for agriculture and animal activities. In terms of functional land use, Kars shows a settlement feature in which urban functions are dominated.
