Plasma cell neoplasms are unusual tumors of the head and neck. Extramedullary plasmacytoma is a rare subtype of plasmacytoma. The other subtypes are multiple myeloma and solitary plasmacytoma of bone. Extramedullary plasmacytoma accounts for 4% of non-epitelial tumors of the nasal cavity, paranasal sinuses and nasopharynx and they usually occur in patients between 6 and 7th decades of life and they are more common in men. Approximately 80% of extramedullary plasmacytomas are localized in the submucosa of the upper respiratory tract and 10% are multiple. The aim of this article is to review and to discuss the clinic presentation, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of the extramedullary plasmacytoma of nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses.
