Abstract:

Purpose: The purpose of this research is to test the validity and reliability of the AIDS attitude scale in nursing students who are studying in Turkey. Method: This research was both identifiable and methodologically planned. The research was conducted with 230 nursing students who were trained in 2019-2020 at the Faculty of Nursing at the University of Atatürk. In the study, the data was collected using the "Indicative Information Form" and the "AIDS Attitude Scale" which contains the socio-demographic characteristics of students. The data assessment used percentage distribution, Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin (KMO) and Barlett's test, correlation analysis, Cronbach alpha value and factor analysis. Results: The study found the KMO value to 85 and Barlett’s test result to X2 = 2400,443 (P = 0,000). The measurement, as in the original version of the Turkish version, was found to be composed of 21 matters and 2 factors (Event and Empathy). In the analysis of the factor, the factor load of the scale material is between 42 and 85. The evasion sub-dimensional Cronbach alpha ratio, 87 and the Empati sub-dimensional Cronbach alpha ratio, 88 were identified. The test re-test reliability values of the sub-dimensions were identified as ,85 and ,86 respectively. The result: This study found that the Turkish version of the AIDS Attitude Scale is valid and reliable for nursing students. This measurement tool can be used to determine the attitudes of health workers towards individuals with AIDS. Click to download the supplement file.
