In Turkish, the production and drawing attachments come basically either to the real roots and bodies or to the name roots and bodies. That is, an add-on does not come to both the names and the actual bases.Only the question attachment comes to both the names and the actual bases. With this feature, the question attachment is separated from the other attachments. In this study, the processes of use and adding of the "mu" edition used as a question element in Turkish in historic and contemporary Turkish writing languages have been studied. For this, the question element "-mI/-mU" used in the historic writing languages of Turkish, the Old Uyghur Turkish, Karahanlı Turkish, Harezm Turkish, Kıpçak Turkish, Çağatay Turkish and the Old Anadolu Turkish, in light of the examples taken from the texts of these writing languages, has been given information about the historic development process and its use in contemporary writing languages. Then a comparison of the similar and different aspects of the forms in the historical and contemporary writing languages was made and the categorical status, imitation, and uninterpreted location of the question element was understood. Therefore, a number of conclusions have been made about the historical development, the qualities, the use in historical and contemporary written languages, the categorical status, the immaculate and the uninterpreted place of the question.
Derivational affixes and endings in Turkish come to the either verb or noun stems. In other words, an ending does not come to both noun and verb bases. Yet, the only ending that comes to both is the interrogative particle. İt stands out with this feature. This study seeks to examine the history of the “mu” preposition and its use and ending processes in modern Turkish written languages. To do this, first of all information has been given related to the history and usage of the relevant “-mI/-mU” particle in Gokturk Turkish, Old Uighur Turkish, Karakhanid Turkish, Khorezm Turkish, Kipczak Turkish, Chagatay Turkish and Old Anatolian Turkish. Afterwards, through a comparison of similar and different aspects of the particle between forms in historical and modern written languages, we have made some inferences related to whether the particle is a preposition or an ending. Thus, information has been given related to the historical development of the interrogative preposition/ending, its qualities, its usage in historical and modern written languages, its categorical position and syntactic position
