Abstract:

The sentence is the essential part of the narrative. It contains many elements that show the subtleties and richness of the language. For this reason, from the historical dialects of the Turkish language to the standard Turkish of Turkey, the sentence, the elements of the sentence and the syntax have been the subject of many studies. Karahan's "Syntax in Turkish" is undoubtedly one of the most important publications on this subject. Studies on "sentence" in Old Turkish, which is the beginning period of the written Turkish language, are mostly works-based or studies that deal with a single sentence structure, depending on the scope of the subject. The same situation is in question in the studies on sentences in Old Uyghur, which is one of the branches of Old Turkish and is considered to be the largest branch in terms of vocabulary. Dr. Ülkü Polat's publication named "Sentence in Old Uyghur Turkish", which was published by the Turkish Language Association in 2022, stands out as a publication that deals with the element of "sentence" completely. Study It is the book version of Ülkü Polat's doctoral thesis with the same name in 2018, with minor corrections and additions.
