Two centuries from the 2nd century of the Hijrī include a period in which Islamic thought developed the fastest. During this period, many scholars who contributed to Islamic thought came to the fore. Among them, Abū Ḥanīfa, who is accepted as the leader of the Ahl al-Ra’y, has a special place. This position of his is not just about his systematization of fiqh and his way of doing it in a ra’y-oriented way. In the early ṭabakāt, there are also rumors that he was related to Murji’a, right after he was stated to be Ahl al Ra’y. In the background of this situation, the socio-cultural and socio-political conditions of the period and geography in which he lived have a serious effect. The Ahl-i Ḥadīth circles have a significant contribution to the fact that he is mentioned in connection with Murji’a. After what happened during the miḥna process, it reflected negatively on the Ḥanafīs. The criticism of the Ahl-i Ḥadīth circles against the Ḥanafīs was generally through their symbolic leader, Abū Ḥanīfa. It is observed that the harsh stance towards Abū Ḥanīfa began to soften after the effects of the mihne process began to wane. After this process, it started to be evaluated within the framework of "Sunnī" by the Ashʿarite scholars. The relationship between Abū Ḥanīfa and Murji’a is an issue that continues to be discussed today. The subject has attracted the attention of western contemporary researchers. With interest revealed by the sense of belonging denomination, different considerations have emerged on the subject in Turkey.
