Sinema, diğer sanat türleri gibi içinde yaşanılan çağın düşünsel silüetini sunan, kitlelere kolayca erişebilmesiyle etkisi çok daha hissedilir olan, imgesel doğaya sahip bir insan aktivitesi olarak dikkatle analiz edilmeyi gerektiren bir sanat türüdür. Bunun ötesinde, modern sonrası dönem olarak da tanımlanan ve kültür ürünlerine çeşitlilik, çok anlamlılık, yoruma açıklık gibi tipik özellikler atfedilen bir dönemde gün yüzüne çıkan sinema yapıtlarının ele alınması elzemdir. Bu olguya içerdikleri etik ikilem ve karşıt perspektif sunumu gibi özelliklerle bir örnek oluşturan Inferno 2016 ve Avengers: Infinity War 2018 filmleri, karakterlerin eylem motivasyonları ve dolayımında filmlerin kavramsal temellerinin ve etik çerçevenin ortaya konması amacıyla ele alınmıştır. Bu amaçla yapıtlar anlatı içerisindeki karakterlerin amaç, eylem ve motivasyonları başta olmak üzere anlatıların genel yapısı geleneksel göstergebilim kuramının yanı sıra bu çalışma içerisinde geliştirilen diyalektik göstergebilimsel yaklaşım çerçevesinde analiz edilmiştir. Çalışmanın sonucunda anlatıların protogonistlerinin “conatus” ya da tikel yaşam istemi temelinde hareket ettikleri görülürken, antagonsitlerin diyalektik bir dolayımla ölüm kavramının tikel altığı yoluyla tümel yaşam kavramı ideali uğrunda eylediği görülmüştür. Böylece, anlatıların esas olarak karakterler üzerinden sundukları söylemin aksine derin düzlemde bunun tersine işaret ettikleri belirlenmiştir.
Cinema, like other types of art presents the intellectual silhouette of the age in which it is lived, that has a much more palpable effect with its easy access to the masses, and that requires careful analysis as a human activity with an imaginary nature. Beyond this, it is essential to deal with the cinema works that emerged in a period that is also defined as the post-modern period and where typical features such as diversity, polysemy and openness of interpretation are attributed to cultural products. Inferno 2016 and Avengers: Infinity War 2018 films, which set an example for this phenomenon with their features such as ethical dilemma and opposing perspective presentation, are discussed in order to reveal the conceptual bases and ethical framework of the films in the action motivations of the characters and mediation. For this purpose, the general structure of the narratives, especially the purpose, actions and motivations of the characters in the works, were analyzed within the framework of the dialectical semiotic approach developed in this study, as well as the traditional semiotic theory. As a result of the study, it was seen that the protogonists of the narratives acted on the basis of “conatus” or the particular will to life, while the antagonists acted for the ideal of the concept of universal life through the particular undertone of the concept of death through a dialectical mediation. Thus, it has been determined that the narratives point to the opposite in the deep plane, contrary to the discourse they present mainly through the characters.
