Üstün zekalı ve yetenekli öğrenciler gelecekte ülkenin önemli noktalarında olacaklarından tarihlerini bilmeleri ve ülke topraklarının korunması konusunda duyarlı olarak eğitilmelidirler. Bu araştırmanın amacı; üstün zekalı ve yetenekli öğrencilerin Maraş’ın işgali ve kurtuluşuna yönelik bilgi düzeylerini ve görüşlerini ortaya çıkarmaktır. Araştırma bir bilim ve sanat merkezinde 36 kız, 35 erkek olmak üzere toplam 71 öğrenci ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bu öğrenciler hem ortaokul 5. sınıfa hem de BİLSEM’e devam etmektedirler. Araştırmada veriler, araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen “İşgalden Kurtuluşa Maraş” adlı etkinlik formu ile toplanmıştır. Etkinlik için dört kavram karikatürü hazırlanmıştır. Her kavram karikatürü içinde iki soru hazırlanarak öğrencilere uygulanmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda öğrencilerin Maraş’ın kurtuluşu ile ilgili ortanın üzerinde bilişsel bilgiye sahip olduğu, büyük oranda Sütçü İmam’ı tanıdıkları ve vatan topraklarının korunması konusunda duyarlı oldukları sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.
Excellent intelligent and talented students should be trained sensitively to know their history and to protect the country’s territory since they will be in the country’s important points in the future. The purpose of this research is to reveal the level of knowledge and views of superior intelligent and talented students about the occupation and liberation of Maraş. The study was conducted at a science and art center with a total of 71 students, including 36 girls and 35 men. These students continue to both high school and 5th class. In the study, the data was collected with the activity form called "Rescue from Occupation" developed by the researcher. Four concept cartoons are prepared for the event. Each concept cartoon is applied to students by preparing two questions. The study concluded that students had cognitive information about the center about the liberation of Maraş, they were largely familiar with Sütçü Imam and they were sensitive to the protection of their homeland.
