Abstract:

Michel Foucault was influenced by socialist and existencialist thought in his early era and created his philosophical infrastructure and focused on how life can be studied as a science. In the history of thought, he studied subjects such as ‘love, sexuality, crime and madness’ in detail with a method of thought that looks like an archaeological hunt rather than a philosopher as a historian. Foucault introduced a new concept of power with the “problematization” technique he invented, and concluded that knowledge and power are very closely connected, creating the “power/power” phenomenon. However, with this concept he revealed he did not try to make the definition of power, he noted that it was already undefined. He has questioned the power’s influences and relationships more than who it is; he has revealed how the control mechanisms work within these relationships and how the objects are objectivated. The ‘Heterotopy’ which Foucault developed and defined as ‘realising utopia’ by adding to the topos different social and cultural dimensions and the theories of essence and power, is the real spaces/lengths of the individuality involved in the corporation of society. Heterotopies are very diverse by the relationships they establish with objects and with other places, and therefore all political, religious, cultural speeches related to the objectivization of objects can create and, depending on periodic conditions, some of their species may disappear or new ones may be added. “How can a person live?” In this study, developed in the question axis, Foucault’s one-wide description of the heterotopy, based on the article ‘Of Other Spaces: Utopias and Heterotopias’, the theoretical framework of the heterotopy will be introduced, the heterotopy species will be studied and interpreted.
