Article is focused on showing the sub-cultural world of the imprisoned, including the convicted “wise guys”. Entering the path of crime and then being incarnated were presented in the optics of upbringing and socialization as important processes of human development. Prison is an institution in which thousands of people deprived of their liberty create a “second life”, giving it a variety of faces and dimensions. The subcultural dependencies in a penitentiary institution should be seen as an immanent feature of this environment, which are not uniform in their content, and their modification is in fact a natural consequence of the dynamics of social development.
