This study presents the development, manufacturing and testing performance of a solar concrete collector used for providing domestic hot water. In this study, a solar flat-plate concrete collector and a conventional (metallic) solar flat-plate collector were constructed, tested and compared with each one in performance. The collectors have been tested for several days at different water inlet temperature and flow rate under similar conditions, and the performance is evaluated on the basis of the daily efficiency. Although the solar flat-plate concrete collector was less efficient at low flow rate, it was likely more cost effective than other using metallic absorber plate and tubes.
