Abstract:

Parents play an important role in organizing and developing children’s eating behavior. This study aims to study the effects of mothers' emotional eating, cognitive restrictions, uncontrolled eating behaviors and nutritional knowledge levels on their children's nutritional consumption. The study was conducted on 6.5-8-year-old primary school students and their mothers who are studying in a private college and volunteer to participate in the research. The dietary behavior of mothers is a three-factor nutritional survey (TFEQ-Tr21) and the nutritional level of knowledge is determined by the adult nutritional level scale (YETBID). The children’s food consumption records are analyzed in the BeBIS 8.1 program. There is no connection between the nutritional behavior of the mothers and the sufficient consumption of the children's nutrients. However, the nutritional preference score of mothers and their children’s carbohydrate intake, vitamin B6, potassium, magnesium, iron minerals intake is negative, while protein intake is statistical significant in a positive direction. Emotional eating, cognitive restrictions and uncontrolled eating behaviors of mothers and nutritional knowledge levels have not been shown to have an impact on their child's nutritional intake levels of competence.
