Bu çalışma Eski ve Yeni Asur Dönemi belgelerinden iyi bilinen “kan parası” uygulaması hakkındadır. Orta Asur Kanununda yer almasa da Kan parasının Asur toplum yaşamında ve hukuk anlayışında önemli bir yer edindiği diğer dönem belgelerinden bilinmektedir. Kan parasının, öldürülen kimsenin yakınları tarafından kazanılan bir hak olduğu anlaşılmaktadır. Asur belgelerinde kan parası dāmu kelimesiyle ifade edilmiştir. Bahsi geçen kelime Eski Asur Döneminde her zaman fonetik olarak yazılmışken, Yeni Asur Dönemi belgelerinde ÚŠ/MÚD logogramıyla da ifade edilmiştir.
This study is about the application of "blood currency" well-known from the Old and New Century documents. Although not included in the Middle Ages Law, it is known from the other period documents in which the blood money has taken an important place in the Asur society and the understanding of law. The money of the blood is a right earned by the relatives of the one who is killed. In the Asur documents, the blood money is expressed in the word dāmu. The aforementioned word was always written fonetically in the Ancient Easter period, while in the New Easter documents it was also expressed with the ÚŠ/MÚD logogram.
