Abstract:

Elderly is an inevitable phase of life that will be experienced in line with the social determinants of societies, unless there are premature deaths due to genetic diseases, accidents or any other reason. With the increase in the older adults’ population all over the world, old age has become a global phenomenon rather than an individual problem. Although every individual over the age of 65 years is defined chronologically as old, the physical, psychological, functional characteristics and socioeconomic status of each individual are very different from each other. Changing living conditions, technological developments, emerging diseases, the development and updating of health information, the impact of the environment on health necessitate the older adults to be addressed not only according to their individual characteristics, but also as a whole within their environment in changing world conditions. In this article, common symptoms, complaints and conditions in older adults in our century are discussed holistically.
