Abstract:

The aim of this study is to determine the contributions of the Education Program in Primary Schools (İYEP) to education and the problems encountered in the implementation process in line with the opinions of the teachers involved in the program. The study group of the research, in which case study design, one of the qualitative research methods, was used, consists of 20 teachers working in primary schools in Eskişehir Odunpazarı district in the 2018-2019 academic year. Content analysis technique was used to analyze the data in the study, in which a semi-structured interview form was used. According to the results of the research, the teachers stated that the education program in primary schools has positive but deficiencies. About the contribution of the program to education, almost all of the teachers think that it increases academic success and provides individual support to students. In addition, it is understood from the statements of the teachers that the participation of the students included in the program increases, the program has positive contributions to increase the course performance, motivation level and self-confidence, causes the anxiety of the students to decrease, and contributes to providing equality of opportunity and opportunity. The main problems seen in the program Insufficient time allocated to modules, leaving the student's participation in the program to the parents' discretion, high absenteeism, low wages paid to those working in the program, and the late start of the program from the 3rd grade were expressed.
