Abstract:

In Iran, television broadcasts have significantly influenced the people living in different regions of the country in social, political, economic and cultural matters. The television used as an ideological device of the monarchist regime, starting from the Pehlevian period, has not lost its ability to be an ideological device, although it has been worn with different characteristics after the revolution. This study provides information about the television’s historic development process in Iran. Starting from the Pehlevi period in which television was brought to Iran for the first time, the general framework of television broadcasting in Iran was tried to be drawn together with the 1979 Islamic Revolution. In the Pehlevi period, the process of the first television broadcasts began to find out how the political atmosphere in the country was, how the content of the television channels was formed. In the post-revolution period, the changes in television broadcasts, the periods of broadcasts, what issues they were addressing, the role in a newly established state structure was investigated.
