Abstract:

The question of epistemic emotions, which is important to the philosophy of emotions and minds, is debated by movement on the question of what emotional motivations the person, as the subject of knowledge, moves on the way to knowledge, and how these emotions are in a relationship with the transcendental processes. These discussions have been intensely continued, especially over the past fifty years, by the emotion philosophy experts at the Department of Philosophy of the University of Texas. Emotional theorists and epistemologists are getting more and more involved in their theories of epistemic - or noetic or metabolian - emotions by taking advantage of epistemic emotions and psychological research. As a result of these studies, certain main epistemic emotions affecting the processes of human knowledge are classified as follows: surprising, curiosity, admiration, intellectual courage, surprise, interest, sense of certainty, sense of doubt, fear of the unknown, misology, joy of confirmation, sense of knowledge, etc. There has not yet been a specific study of what epistemic emotions are happening in the context of Islamic thought. This article aims to identify what is the epistemic series of emotions of early Islamic thought. In this context, it will be focused on whether in the Qur’an and the classical Islamic thought sources of epistemic emotions are not mentioned and whether they provide a systematic structure.
