Abstract:

The main objective of this work is to determine the importance of the text called Telgraf Risâlesi, the first work written on electrical telgraf by telgrafist Mustafa Efendi and to the extent we can identify, from the point of view of our technology and cultural history. In addition to being the first work written in the telegraph field, this work has a historic importance in terms of the first appearance of the alphabet called the "Mustafa Alphabet" and which allows telegraphy to be made in Turkish. For this reason in our work first the telegraph was briefly given in the Ottoman, then the life and work of Mustafa Efendi was revealed. Mustafa Efendi's struggle for the development of the telegraph in the Ottoman and his contribution to this area was presented to the reader. In addition, the telegraphist Mustafa Hami Efendi and the doctor Mustafa Hami Pasha have been informed about the problem caused by the similarity of names. The contribution that Mustafa Efendi has made with the translation of the telgraf language into Turkish has been emphasized by examining the general lines of the Telgraf Risalesi. The text was later transliterated into Latin letters.
