Abstract:

The aim of the study is to identify the professional problems experienced by female tour guides and to offer suggestions. In this context, ten interviews were conducted using in-depth interviews with qualitative research methods. The results of these interviews, the problems women face are classified in six different categories. These are social and family problems, problems with colleagues and work mates, problems with travel agencies, problems arising from the characteristics of the sector and guidance profession, problems with customers, supervision and education. Women tourist guides have pointed out the social perception as the biggest problem and have expressed some of the challenges of becoming a female tourist guide as part of the male dominant society. Some suggestions were presented to the problems and it was seen that female tour guides needed a union in the result of the study.
