This article aims to analyze the notion of "hermeneutics of emergences" formulated by Boaventura de Sousa Santos. In the context of strong criticism to the postulates of western modernity, the so-called epistemologies of the South contrast a production of knowledge according to global South realities, an emancipatory epistemology in the framework of hegemonic domination and colonialism. The development of the presentation is divided first into the reconstruction of the notion, linking it to a "diatopical hermeneutics" formulated by the same author. Secondly, I try to succinctly locate these notions within the Portuguese sociologist's proposal in relation to the epistemologies of the South and an ecology of knowledge.
