Özet:

Introduction: Together with there are different practices related to peer education in the field of educational sciences, it is observed that there are not enough studies in this field especially in nursing education. Aim: The research was conducted to determine the views of nursing students on peer education. Methods: This descriptive study was conducted in a nursing department of a private university. The sample of the study consisted of 211 students who volunteered to participate in the study. The data collection form was prepared by the researcher using a 14-item data collection form. Results: The majority of the nursing students stated that with the help of peer education, anxiety about the clinic and its applications would be reduced, the subjects of education in the peer group would be more easily spoken, encouraged, a collaborative learning relationship would be established and as a result, it would be easier to learn nursing care and practices. The vast majority of students (68.7%) stated that the selected peers might not be a good instructor, and 55% stated that there would be a risk of not having an equal relationship between the teaching and learning peer. Conclusion: In this study, the opinions of nursing students about peer education were examined and it was thought that this education will gain proficiency in nursing profession, high academic success, leadership direction, team spirit, and professional members who have skills and applications. It is recommended to determine the training needs of the nursing students before a structured peer education.
