The COVID-19 infection, which was first appeared in China in December 2019 and rapidly affected the world, was declared as a pandemic by the World Health Organization. Although COVID-19 infection generally affects older individuals, it can also be seen in pregnant women and newborn babies. The clinical symptoms of the virus in pregnant women are similar to those of adults. Limited data on COVID-19 in pregnancy are mostly related to the women who was affected by the virus in the third trimester. The disease causes anxiety because of pregnant women’s being in the risky group for respiratory infections. In this study, under the light of the available information, it is aimed to summarize the effects of COVID-19 infection on mother and fetus during pregnancy, birth and postpartum periods, transmition risks from the mother to baby and important points in nursing care.
