Abstract:

Purpose: This study aims to investigate the psychiatric diagnoses of the facts directed to our judicial psychiatric clinic, the conditions of use of the substance, the sociodemographic and clinical characteristics. Method: In the framework of this study, the archive files and reports of a total of 412 incidents, directed to the Medical School of the University of Gaziantep between 2007-2011, have been reviewed backward. Results: In cases where the use and addiction of the substance were evaluated, the use of the drug was 57.1%, the use of heroin 14.6%, the use of multiple substances 13.1%, and the use of the drug 0.5%. In cases evaluated for the purpose of determining criminal liability, multiple substances were found to be used at 7.7%, 6.9%, and 3.8% of heroin. In the criminals, the facts in which drug use and addiction are assessed and the facts in which criminal responsibility is assessed, the male sex is significantly high and the level of education is significantly low. In our study, psychiatric diagnoses in criminals were identified by frequency order; substance addiction, psychotic disorders and emotional disorders. Dispute: Those who are using and addicted to the substance they use, directly or indirectly, are involved in more criminal offences due to their use. These persons are enthusiastically involved in the judicial system and are the subject of the judicial psychiatrist in this process.
