Kürt meselesinin, Türkiye’nintemel meselelerinden biri olduğu saptaması hemen herkes tarafından paylaşılan ortak bir görüştür. Hatta kimi yazarlar tarafından “sorunların anası” olarak değerlendirilir.1 Sorunların anası olan Kürt sorununun anası (kalbi) ise, “dil sorunu”dur. Kürt meselesinin ortaya çıkışında Kürt dili üzerinde uygulanan baskı ve yasakların tâyin edici bir role sâhip olduğu dikkate alındığında, dil sorununun ne denli önemli olduğu daha iyi anlaşılır. Hâl böyle olmakla birlikte, dil sorunu, hiçbir zaman -bütün yönleriyle birlikte- Kürt meselesi etrafında yaşanan tartışmalarda odak olma özelliğine sâhip olmadı ve hak ettiği ilgiyi görmedi.
