Abstract:

The purpose of this study is to study the characteristics of effective psychological consultants from the eyes of consultants who receive psychological consultancy and indicate that the problem is solved. The study was carried out with the phenomonological research scheme of the quality research methods. A total of 13 consultants, including 10 women and 3 men, participated in the study. In the study, the data was collected by the quality interview form that included demographic information. In the study to the participants "Do you evaluate the role of your psychological consultant in the psychological consulting process?" A open end question was asked. The phenomenological analysis of the answers to these questions was carried out. According to the results of the analysis, there were 15 characteristics related to the management of the therapeutic process, the self-management of the psychological consultant and the developmental progress in the psychological consulting process. The comprehensive definition of therapeutic process management has five key topics in the form of achieving connection with the consultant, scientifically implementing the process, creating therapeutic conditions and using skills; being supporting; and changing the point of view of the consultant. In the comprehensive definition of psychological consultant’s self-management, there are five topics: the positive personality characteristics of the psychological consultant; the high level of motivation of the psychological consultant; the emotional comfort of the psychological consultant; the impressive voice tone of the psychological consultant; and the relaxation of the psychological consultant. The comprehensive definition of the developmental stages of the psychological consulting process has been found in five topics: closely careful; effectively listening; finding the causes of the problem and bringing the result/solving the problem. These features can be used in the training of a psychological consultant, in the process of psychological consultation and supervision.
