Abstract:

The aim of this study is to determine the occupational problems of Professional tour guides live in Van and to offer a solution to them. In recent years, in Turkey, The Eastern Region, Van province and Van Lake basin have been attracting both domestic tourists and foreign tourist increasingly. The Professional tourist guides play a key role in conveying historical, natural and cultural properties matter-of-course encounter problems. This research contains making inquires about the problems are faced by the Professional tourist guides live in Van province. In this article a qualitative method was used, as well as phenomenology. The research questions were genarated by making the literature review, and the datas were collected through semi-structured survey, also face-to-face interviews were conducted with the Professional tour guides in Van province. During the interviews, voice recording was done, and then, the voice recording was turned into text. The decrypted text was read at least 5 times, and the theme, the category and the sub-category were generated in compliance with the data obtained from the participants. The findings show that there are problems in organisation, infrastractural problems in archaeological sites, accommodation, travel agencies, refreshments facilities, transportation and bureaucracy.
