Objective: For demonstrating of learning period, we retrospectively evaluated our first 25 cases who undergone laparoscopic nephrectomy. Materials and Method: Between May 2011 and July 2012, 25 patients who undergone laparoscopic nephrectomy in our clinic. They were evaluated for operation indication, operation time, bleeding, conversion to open surgery, major complication, and usage of analgesics and stay of hospitalization. All procedures were done by two surgeons with limited experience for laparoscopic surgery.Results: We performed laparoscopic nephrectomy and laparoscopic radical nephrectomy at 20 and 5 patients, respectively. Average bleeding was 90 ml. In one of the 25 cases, conversion to open surgery was needed due to renal vein injury. Average duration of surgery was 175 minutes. Average hospital stay was 4 days. None of these patients needed narcotic analgesic.Conclusion: Learning period can be overcome with long operation time, low complication rate and low conversion rate to open surgery
