Abstract:

When the education sector is examined in terms of occupational health and safety as formal and non-formal education, it emerges as the sector with the highest human population affected by risks. In addition to the high number of people, when the size of the workplace is examined, it is the sector with more buildings and annexes. According to the Ministry of National Education (MEB) and Higher Education Institution (YÖK) data, although educational institutions appear to be less dangerous, occupational health and safety studies are very important for the safety and health of employees and students. Despite this, students were not seen as employees of educational institutions and were excluded from the scope of the Occupational Health and Safety Law No. 6331 published in the Official Gazette on 20 June 2012. In this sense, in order to contribute to the literature and to spread the awareness of occupational health and safety in the education sector, an analysis of occupational health and safety in the education sector from pre-school to doctoral education was made in this study. In addition, educational institutions were examined in terms of occupational health and safety and suggestions were presented.
