Mirza Abdürrahim Talibov , an Azeri Turk, wrote his works in Persian. He was an effective thinker and journalist, also a successful businessman and philanthropist who published a newspaper in Istanbul and played an active role on the political movements of Iranian Turks. Talibov was born in Tabriz, spent most of his life in Dagestan within the borders of Russia and died there. Despite the fact that he spent the fruitful times of his life within the borders of Russian Empire, Talibov never broke his connection with Turkish-Islamic world, had close contacts with the intellectual circles of Istanbul and had his works in Persian published here. Encountering writings about Mirza Abdurrahim Talibov in the press of that era can be seen as a consequence of the material and spiritual connection that has been mentioned. In this study, Talibov’s life is elaborated, his controversial birthdate which is mentioned differently in various sources is clarified, his place in social and philosophical thought in both Iran and Azerbaijan and in the history of media and literature is tried to be identified. Also, the newspaper, Şahseven that is accepted as the first humor newspaper he secretly published in Istanbul is brought out in this study. His best known works which were mostly published in Istanbul are selected, information about them is given and their content is briefly mentioned
