Abstract:

Having examined the development and change process of Turkish language, it is observed that vocabulary of this language was widened and diversified in centuries. From this perspective, many words in Turkish have kept their presence and survived until today. Specific characteristics, geographical changes, professions and regime systems of Turkish nation made contributed to this situation. Vocabulary of Turkish language has hosted countless number of words and richness. One of the aspects that shows this issue is animal names. In this study, animal names in Suat Ünlü’s book called Çağatay Türkçesi Sözlüğü, which was published in 2013 by Eğitim Publishing House, were scanned and classified. Firstly, the work was scanned, determined findings were classified, and various examinations were made. In this dictionary which was prepared by Suat Ünlü, by using works in Chagati Turkish, a widespread work of vocabulary was revealed. This work has a rich content in the sense of animal names and vocabulary.
