Generally, having a intended baby, giving a birth and being a mother, is considered as a happy event specially for women having history of infertility and endeavoring emotionally, physically and financially. Because, although the transition, from the prenatal period to the postnatal period, is desired and usually planned, it is a developmental and cognitive transition period with complex emotional reactions. During this period, mood disorders which may be occured in women are maternity blues, postpartum depression and postpartum psychosis. Postpartum depression is a common and serious mood disorder jeoparding to mother, baby and familys’ health within the first year after delivery. Knowing the risks factors is an important issue due to early detection and early intervention of postpartum depression. There is a few study assesing the effect of infertility that is known as a risk factor of depression during it’s diagnosis and treatment on development of postpartum depression. In this review, the effect of infertility on development of it have been discussed in the light with literature.
