Abstract:

The present work responds to the interest of AVT for descriptive studies of multilingual and multicultural films. From the concept of L3, we analyse the role played by the dialectal variation in the Spanish dubbed version of the Hotel Transylvania saga, which is strongly marked by the presence of several L3s, some of them not included in the original text. This translation option, although not free of controversy, widens the range of possibilities offered to the translator in order to transfer the characters’ idiosyncrasy or even to characterize and distinguish them in an audiovisual product.
