Abstract:

Purpose: This research is aimed at determining the level of the professional enthusiasm and attitude of the teacher candidates towards the teaching profession. Method: The universe of this research, in which visual, causal comparative and relative research patterns are used, is formed by teachers candidates (n=279) who are studying in the Social Information Teaching Program in the 2018-2019 educational year. The research was also aimed at reaching all students in the universe without taking samples. The data collected from 197 teachers candidates were included in the analysis. The study used the "Professional Passion Scale" and the "Professional Attitude Scale" in relation to the teaching profession. Through the obtained data, first of all, visual statistical calculations, t test and unilateral variance analysis and correlation analysis were made. The findings: The research found that the professional enthusiasm of the teacher candidates and their attitudes related to the profession significantly vary according to the variables of preference of gender, class level and division. The study also determined that there are significant relationships in the positive direction between professional enthusiasm and attitude towards the profession. Results and Recommendations: This study found that teachers’ candidates had a lower enthusiasm for their branches compared to their enthusiasm for teaching. Therefore, events can be organized where successful teachers and teachers candidates who work in the field are gathered to ensure that teachers candidates are more accepting their branches.
