The pollutant emissions from the internal combustion engines are inevitable due to the power is obtained in internal combustion engines is a result of the combustion event and the combustion happens in a limited time. However, this issue is tried to be controlled by emission control methods. In this study, the effects of secondary air injection (SAI) and three-way catalytic converter on CO, HC, and NO emissions in a spark-ignition engine with single-point fuel injection were experimentally investigated. The experiments were conducted at 2500 rpm constant engine speed (maximum torque speed) by varying the engine load and in the 1500-5000 rpm engine speed range at full load. While SAI increased the conversion efficiencies of the CO and HC emissions of the converter under conditions where the engine was operating richer than the stoichiometric air/fuel ratio, it did not adversely affect the conversion of NO emissions.
