Abstract:

Located in Central Anatolia, Aksaray is located at the junction of historically important roads. For this reason, it has been under the sovereignty of many states in the historical process and changes have occurred in the administration of the city. In this study, the changes in Aksaray's administrative division into provinces and districts in the time period between 1921-1989, the developments in its political and economic life were examined. Thus, it is aimed to reveal the political and economic portrait of Aksaray as a province in the first years of the Republic. In addition, an answer was sought to the question of what kind of effects the developments that took place in Aksaray, which started in 1933 and became a district in the time period until 1989, had on the people of Aksaray. In the light of the answers found, the political and economic developments created by the administrative history of Aksaray on the city and the people were analyzed. In this context, in the study that will reveal how Aksaray, which was a province in the first period of the Republic, developed after it became a province again in 1989, many sources, especially the Presidency Republic Archive, the Official Gazette, the Parliamentary Minutes and copyrighted works, were used.
