Bu çalışma sosyal bilimler literatürünün popüler konulardan biri olan uluslararası göç olgusuna farklı bir perspektiften yaklaşarak Türkiye ve Birleşik Krallık’da konuyla ilgili hazırlanmış olan doktora tezlerini basit ve tanımlayıcı bir bakış açısının ötesinde değerlendirmektedir. Yıl, erişim durumu, sayfa aralıkları, araştırma tasarımı, örnek olay, araştırma perspektifi, hazırlandığı üniversite, ana bilim dalı, danışmanın unvanı ve öne çıkan temalar gibi bibliyometrik özelliklerine odaklanarak iki veri tabanındaki doktora tezlerini sistematik bir biçimde karşılaştırmak bu çalışmanın ana konusunu oluşturmaktadır. Çalışmada kullanılan veriler doküman incelemesi tekniği kullanılarak Türkiye’den 187, Birleşik Krallık’tan ise 103 doktora tezi incelenmiştir. Analizler yapılırken Microsoft Excel ve MAXQDA 2020 Nitel Veri Analizi programlarından yararlanılmıştır.
This paper approaches the phenomenon of international migration, which is one of the popular topics in the social sciences literature, from a different perspective, and evaluates the doctoral theses prepared in Turkey and the United Kingdom beyond a simple and descriptive perspective. The main subject of this paper is to compare systematically the theses included in the analysis in two databases, focusing on their bibliometric characteristics such as year, access status, page ranges, research design, case study, research perspective, university, department, title of the advisor and prominent themes. Using the document analysis technique, the data were obtained from 187 and 103 doctoral theses from Turkey and the UK respectively. While analyzing, Microsoft Excel and MAXQDA 2020 Qualitative Data Analysis programs were used.
