Bu çalışmada, UNESCO Dünya Miras Listesi’nde yer alan Karabük İli Safranbolu İlçesi’ne bağlı 21 mahalle adı incelenmiş, coğrafi, tarihi ve kültürel bağlantıları ifade edilmeye çalışılmıştır. Araştırmada nitel araştırma yöntemi ile doküman incelemesi (içerik analizi) ve yapılandırılmamış görüşme (mülakat) nitel veri toplama teknikleri kullanılmıştır. Bu doğrultuda teşekkür kısmında belirtilen kaynak kişi görüşülmüş, konu ile ilgili sunduğu bilgiler önce ses kaydı ile kayıt altına alınmış ve ardından yazıya aktarılmıştır. Ana kaynaklarını 1831 yılı 782 sıra numaralı ve 787-788 sıra numaralı Safranbolu Nüfus Kayıtları, Sadrazam İzzet Mehmet Paşa ile Safranbolu Vakfiyesi, Safranbolu Merkez Mezarlığı Mezar Taşları ve Şer-iye Sicil Defterleri’ne ait tarihi çalışmalar, Safranbolu tarihine ait bazı kitap, makale ve tez çalışmaları oluşturmaktadır. Bu eserlerden hareketle Safranbolu İlçesi’nin mahalle adlarına ulaşarak, bugün mevcut olan mahalle adları ile karşılaştırıp uğramış oldukları değişikliklerle, eski ve yeni adlarının anlamları üzerinde durularak tespitler yapılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler sonucunda Safranbolu İlçesi’ne bağlı 21 mahalle adının anlamı incelenmiş ve bir tablo oluşturulmuştur (Tablo 2). Bu tabloya göre Safranbolu mahalle adları çevre ile ilgili adlar, din ile ilgili adlar, boy, aşiret, cemaat ve lakaplardan oluşan adlar, insan isimlerinden oluşan adlar, isim veya sıfat tamlamalarından oluşan adlar ve diğer adlar şeklinde kategorize edilmiştir. Mahallelerin adlandırılmasında doğal ve beşerî faktörler değişik düzeylerde etkili olmuştur.
In this study, 21 neighborhoods associated with the Karabük Ili Safranbolu district, listed in the UNESCO World Heritage List, were studied, geographical, historical and cultural connections were attempted to be expressed. The research has used the quality research method for document examination (content analysis) and unstructured interview (interview) quality data collection techniques. According to this, the source person indicated in the thanksgiving section was discussed, the information he provided about the subject was first recorded with audio recording and then transmitted to the text. Its main sources; 1831 number 782 and 787-788 number Safranbolu Population Records, Sadrazam Izzet Mehmet Pasha and Safranbolu Foundation, Safranbolu Central Cemetery Cemetery Cemetery Stones and Sher-iye Register Books' historical studies, some books, articles and thesis works of the history of Safranbolu. From these works, by moving to the neighborhood names of the Safranbolu district, compared with the neighborhood names that are present today, and with the changes they have experienced, they have been identified by focusing on the meanings of the old and new names. As a result of the data obtained, the meaning of the 21 neighborhood names associated with the Safranbolu district has been studied and a table has been created (Table 2). According to this table, Safranbolu neighborhood names are categorized in the form of names related to the environment, names related to the religion, names consisting of size, arithmetic, gathering and letters, names consisting of human names, names or numbers, and other names. Natural and human factors have influenced the names of neighborhoods at different levels.
In this study, the names of 21 neighborhoods connected to the Safranbolu District of Karabük Province, which is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, were examined and their geographical, historical and cultural connections were tried to be expressed. Its main sources are; Safranbolu Population Registers with 782 numbered and 787-788 numbered numbers in 1831, Grand Vizier Izzet Mehmet Pasha and Safranbolu Foundation, Safranbolu Central Cemetery Tombstones and Sher-iye Registry Books, some books, articles and thesis studies belonging to Safranbolu history form. Based on these works, by reaching the neighborhood names of Safranbolu District, comparing them with the neighborhood names existing today; With the changes they have undergone, determinations have been made by emphasizing the meanings of their old and new names. As a result of the data obtained, the meaning of 21 neighborhood names in Safranbolu District was examined and a table was created (Table 2). According to this table, Safranbolu neighborhood names; environmental-related names, religion-related names, names consisting of height, tribal, congregation and nicknames, names consisting of human names, nouns consisting of noun or adjective phrases and other names. Natural and human factors have been effective at different levels in naming neighborhoods.
